Note

This marble head of Hera was discovered in the sanctuary of the Heraion of Argos, Greece. It was designed in the Argive style and has been associated with the school of the mater sculptor Polykleitos. Scholars believe that this belonged to either the main cult stage of the goddess or to a statue on the west pediment of the Temple of Hera. The object is currently housed in the National Archaeological Museum in Athens, Greece.
