Note
This statue is a marble equestrian work fashioned after a Greek original. It depicts a warrior mounted on horseback, armed with a raised sword in his right hand. He is wearing a galea (helmet), which was typical of Roman military imagery. The horse he is ridding rears in a dynamic position. It was discovered in Rome, Italy, and was excavated from the ruins of the imperial complex of the Baths of Caracalla, specifically likely from the frigidarium area. This work is part of the Farnese Collection and is currently held at the Naples National Archaeological Museum, Italy.
