Note

Depicted is an aging, bearded man draped in a traditional himation, commonly thought to be an ancient philosopher, writer, priest, or notable figure. He is identified as either Plutarch or Plato, though statues of this type did not typically represent a singular person but rather a genre of profession or class. The object was excavated near the terrace of the Temple of Apollo at the Archaeological Site of Delphi. This work is currently held at the Delphi Archaeological Museum, Greece.
