Note

This stele would have originally been enclosed in an architectural frame. Featured is a nude youth, likely a hunter, who leans cross-legged against a low column on a two-stepped base. His gaze is out towards the viewer. In his left hand, he holds a club, with his chlamys that is bunched over his left arm. To the left of the main figure is a seated boy, probably a servant, who rests his head on his knees. Behind the legs of the hunter is a greyhound that sniffs the ground. Across from the hunter is a bearded older man, possibly his father. He is draped in a himation and leans on a staff in his left hand, with his right hand rubs his chin. The surrounding subjects appear sorrowful, suggesting the hunter is the deceased individual. The stele was found in the bed of the Ilissos River, Athens, on December 2, 1874. This object is currently held at the National Archaeological Museum of Athens, Greece.
