The Palace of Minos is typically interpreted by historians as an administrative, economic, religious, and ceremonial hub for the Minoan people in Knossos. The region was inhabited for thousands of years, from the Neolithic era until destruction in 1375 BCE by invasion, which marked the end of the Minoan civilization. It has a complex labyrinth-like layout.
