An accomplished violinist who has performed more than 200 solo and chamber music recitals, Karen White joined USF St. Petersburg in July 2003. After stops at Southeastern Louisiana University, Wright State University, and the University of Maryland system, she served as the Dean of Fine Arts at the University of Nebraska at Omaha before arriving at USFSP. An avid supporter of the arts, White served on the boards of the Museum of Fine Arts and the Florida Orchestra, as well as other cultural and community advisory groups.
In recognition of the growing autonomy of campuses with the USF System, President Judy Genshaft changed Karen White’s title from VP/CEO to Regional Chancellor in February 2004. White served in this capacity when USF St. Petersburg received separate accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. White later became senior adviser to the CEO of USF Polytechnic in Lakeland.
