Abstract
Assessed the efficacy of written instructions plus lecture and goal setting on the use of stationary exercycles for weight loss with 16 moderately overweight (15–30%) Ss (aged 26–52 yrs). Results indicate that instructions and lectures on appropriate usage of the exercycle were ineffective in promoting aerobic use by the Ss. Reasons for this failure to use the cycles appropriately are suggested, including Ss' lack of motivation due to boredom.
