Abstract
This book attempts to provide a contemporary exploration of the multiple areas of research and clinical practice that constitute the field of eating disorders and obesity. Sections within each category are devoted to etiology, risk, and prevention, assessment and diagnosis, and treatment. In addition, because of the tremendous relevance of body image concerns to both eating disorders and obesity, a smaller separate section contains four chapters that extensively review the issues related to etiology, assessment, and treatment of body dysmophic disorder and other body image disturbances. A final section examines in detail special topics such as sexual abuse in eating disorders, the role of ethnicity in obesity and body dissatisfaction, and cosmetic surgery.
