Abstract
Provides a detailed description of technology. Such topics as mobile computing and collaborative support are described. Then the authors present the basis for the connection between technology and health and wellness. Physical concerns primarily focus on musculoskeletal disorders and psychological concerns, although occupational differences may exist, and have tended to indicate that technology can reduce employees' control, increase their sense of isolation, and present concerns about privacy. Suggestions are made for alleviating these negative effects, including a view of the future as might be realized through "cooperative buildings."
