Abstract
Reviews the book, Prediction and Development of Industrial Work Performance by Gavriel Salvendy and W. Douglas Seymour (1973). This book's purpose, according to the authors, is to explicate the "procedures necessary to ensure that appropriate people are chosen and adequately trained to fulfill their part in carefully designed man-machine and other production systems." In general, the strongest sections are the chapters outlining job and skill analysis techniques and describing training methods to develop skills in industry. The section dealing with job, task, and skill analysis is very rich in meaningful information for persons concerned with these areas. In fact, this book provides procedures, techniques, etc, with which modern organizational psychologists trained at most graduate schools in the United States are probably not familiar.
