Abstract
This chapter is about work style requirements for occupations and jobs. The authors review several personality taxonomies. They describe the methodology used to develop a taxonomy of work styles to be used in the Occupational Information Network (O*NET) and explain and justify the content of that taxonomy. The general goal of this effort was to identify a comprehensive yet reasonably small number of personal characteristics that describe the important interpersonal and work style requirements in jobs and occupations in the US economy. The chapter also describes an initial empirical investigation of the descriptors associated with the taxonomy.
