Note
The first round of Progress Village homes required a $200 down payment and $75 monthly payments - prices that were out of reach for many Black people displaced by gentrification, inflation, and the building of the interstate system through a traditional Black neighborhood. As shown in this photograph, the Progress Village Inc., board tried to entice families with seemingly favorable payment terms, but housing sales stayed below what the organization had hoped for.
