Dr. Garald Gordon Parker Collection
Dr. Garald Gordon Parker (1905-2000), often cited as the 'Father of Florida groundwater hydrogeology,' had a long career studying and preserving groundwater resources, particularly in Florida. Parker discovered and described both the Biscayne and Floridan Aquifers. His work was instrumental in the creation of Florida's five Water Management Districts, and he served as Chief Hydrologist for the Southwest Florida Water Management District until 1975. The materials in the Dr. Garald Gordon Parker collection follow his long career in Florida hydrology, focusing on ground water resources in southern Florida. Reports, journals, photos, and correspondence created by Parker are evaluated for inclusion in the digital collection.
