Abstract
Photograph of the R/V [Research Vessel] Alpha Helix, a ship dedicated to scientific research, in the water. The R/V Alpha Helix was owned by the National Science Foundation and assigned to the Scripps Institute of Oceanography at the University of California, San Diego. The photograph is taken from the rear of the ship and shows the large amounts of equipment aboard it. Dr. John C. Ogden and his colleagues were aboard the R/V Alpha Helix for a research expedition to Miskito Bank, Nicaragua from October 13, 1977 to November 18, 1977 where their research included studies on seagrasses, fish, sea urchins, and the green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas).
