Abstract
A panel from the exhibit "From Fiddler Crabs to a Harbor with Class: A History of Bayboro Harbor and the University of South Florida St. Petersburg" celebrating the fortieth anniversary of the university.
An biographical portrait of Nelson Paul Poynter appears on this panel. The longtime editor and publisher of the St. Petersburg Times, Poynter also championed the idea of expanding educational opportunities in Pinellas County. He played an important role in supporting the creation of Eckerd College and USF St. Petersburg on the lower Pinellas peninsula.
