Abstract
An exhibit panel from "From Fiddler Crabs to a Harbor with Class: A History of Bayboro Harbor and the University of South Florida St. Petersburg" celebrating the fortieth anniversary of the University of South Florida St. Petersburg.
The close proximity of Tampa Bay has defined the educational experience at USF St. Petersburg since classes began along Bayboro Harbor. The College of Marine Science, a Tampa-based academic unit, began as the USF Marine Science Institute. In the years that followed, partnerships with the Florida Institute of Oceanography, USGS, and other entities have elevated the stature of USF's marine research initiatives.
