Abstract
A panel from the exhibit "From Fiddler Crabs to a Harbor with Class: A History of Bayboro Harbor and the University of South Florida St. Petersburg" celebrating the fortieth anniversary of the university.
During the late 1980s through the mid-1990s, academic programs continued to flourish at USF St. Petersburg. Although the campus remained an upper-level commuter school, vibrant academic and student leadership activities defined the town-and-gown relationship with the community that became the norm after the arrival of H.W. "Bill" Heller. During Dean Heller's tenure, the campus came alive with the popular Campus Lecture Series, a Monday night Lecture Series in the Campus Activities Center, numerous community partnerships, and the construction of a new library building.
