Abstract

A public service announcement from 1972 found among the Sam Gibbons papers. is presented, featuring spoken appeals by Terry Talbot urging newly enfranchised young Americans to vote and musical messaging by the Mason Proffit band encouraging registration, participation, and political engagement. Andy Huse highlights how these messages promoted youth involvement after the 26th Amendment and includes clippings, imagery, and music used to mobilize voters during the Vietnam era.
