Abstract
Donna Brynjolfsson shares her experiences as both a parent and staff member at Learning Gate Community Charter School during its shift from a private to a public charter. She reflects on the school’s community-focused, environmentally-conscious philosophy and how it has influenced her daughter’s growth academically and personally. Brynjolfsson also discusses organizational changes, such as tighter regulations on charter schools and the technological and administrative hurdles that ultimately led to her retirement. The interview underscores the importance of community in education, adaptability, and a mission-driven approach in influencing long-term outcomes for students and families.
