Abstract
An oral history interview with Abigail Carr, a pseudonym for a lesbian who lives in a gay/lesbian retirement community in Florida, possibly the Palms of Manasota in Palmetto. They talked about marrying their partner in San Diego and the possibility of the marriage not being legal due to Proposition 8. They also spoke on gay and lesbian adoption and equal protection for LGBTQ+ people under the law. They briefly described their childhood, education, and life before retiring. Most of the interview focuses on life in the community: how they and their partner discovered it, relationships with neighbors, etc. There is also a substantial tangent about academia and equal pay.
