Abstract
An oral history with James Welsh, a gay television producer originally from Tampa. Welsh spoke about coming to terms with their identity and how the bookstore Tomes and Treasures helped with their journey. Welsh created a LGBTQ+-focused variety show called "The Word is Out" that ran from 1990 to 1992. They spoke of the original gay-focused television programming in the early 1990s and the importance of the Tampa Bay International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival (TIGLFF)
