Abstract
An oral history with two lesbians. One, going by the pseudonym Katherine Kline, grew up in the greater New York City area; the other going by the pseudonym Juliana Sabine, grew up in the greater Washington, D.C. area. They speak of growing up closeted and of Kline's parents try to "fix" her sexuality. They speak of growing up in the 1970s where it wasn't socially acceptable or safe to be out. Most of the interview focuses on life in the community: how they discovered it, relationships with neighbors, social events, et cetera. There is also a lengthy discussion about social networking sites and the Internet.
