La Gaceta [Newspaper]

La Gaceta [Newspaper]

Founded in 1922 by former cigar factory lector (reader) Victoriano Manteiga, trilingual (English, Spanish, and Italian) newspaper La Gaceta was created for Tampa's mixture of "Latins": Cuban, Spanish, and Sicililan. Known over the years for political and historical content as well as well-connected, sharp-witted gossip, it is the oldest trilingual newspaper in the United States. For anyone interested in the history of Tampa's immigrant community, La Gaceta is an important resource.
