Abstract

From the Preface: "Five Hundred papers were presented at the Fifteenth International Speleological Congress, Kerrville, Texas, USA on July, 19-26, 2009 by speleologists from all over the world. These volumes contain the written record for those papers. Authors who chose to do so were invited to prepare full papers of up to six pages. Authors who preferred a more limited text contributed abstracts of their papers for the Proceedings. The papers fall into two categories: those that were incorporated into the 13 symposia; 300 papers and those that were contributed to topical sessions; 200 papers. Written accounts appear for both oral presentations and papers that were presented as posters. The papers are arranged alphabetically by first author in the sequence Plenary lectures, Symposia papers, and Contributed papers. Both abstracts and papers received comprehensive technical reviews by the Science Committee. The authors had the opportunity to revise their papers in response to reviewer's comments. It is hoped that the review process has improved the clarity of the papers so that information transfer is enhanced."
