Abstract

This article reviews and critiques the manual Ground Water Tracers by Davis et al. (1985). It summarizes the manual’s coverage of tracer types, hydrologic principles, field methods, and analytical techniques, while noting omissions, outdated information, and areas needing clarification. The review highlights issues related to dye toxicity, tracer selection, and practical field guidance, and identifies major errors in the dye section. It concludes that although the manual is a useful overview for practitioners, it lacks detailed evaluation of tracer effectiveness and does not fully reflect advances in tracer studies.
