Abstract

This article examines the toxicity of the fluorescent dyes rhodamine B and fluorescein sodium and evaluates whether each dye is compatible with the fish toxicant antimycin. Laboratory bioassays were conducted with rainbow trout, channel catfish, and bluegill to determine LC₅₀ values for the dyes and for mixtures of each dye with antimycin. The results document species-specific toxicity levels and identify how the dyes influence the effectiveness of antimycin.
