Abstract
During the past 10 years more scientific research has focused on the cave enviroment. This is because caves are simple natural laboratories. The cave climate is stable and easily defined. The cave communities are simple and can be studied in toto. This simplicity allows detailed analysis of processes that are difficult to study in more complex enviroments.
