Abstract
The 1933 Biological Expedition of the Carnegie Institution and the University of Michigan to the Maya region established its field headquarters in the village of La Libertad in the western portion of the savanna country of the Department of Peten, Guatemala. Archaeological discoveries were made in that region during the course of the botanical explorations and several new sites were located.
