Abstract

Osornogyndes tumifrons sp. nov. is here described and designated as the type-species of the new genus Osornogyndes. The tarsal formula, the lack of ornamentation in the eye mound, body and legs, and the presence of an apophysis in the basichelicerite are the main characters to identify the genus. Osornogyndes inhabit the Valdivian wet forest of southern Chile.
