Abstract

Squat glass pot has a wide neck, flared mouth and simple rim. The base is shallowly concave with a palpable pontil mark. The two handles are “S” shaped and attached to both the body of the vessel and to the shoulder. The exterior surface is rough following the contours of the designs in the canes; the interior surface is smoother and cloudy. The vessel is lined with translucent glass. The orange color in the canes are vibrant and unusual for the ancient world. Research into the introduction of various colors and patterns in millefiori glass will help date this object.
