Abstract

The slender greenish-brown metal object tapers from the head to the sharp point. The head end has eight lobes which suggest a sharply involuted sphere, sometimes referred to as a poppy seed head. There is a forged hole 3.5 cm. below the head. A collar surrounds and reinforces the hole. Incised bands on the shaft extend to the hole and below it for 0.4 cm.

Alt Text

A three-dimensional model of a long, thin copper pin that tapers down to a point from a slightly-wider head with a rounded, decorative element attached. When viewed from the top, the decorative end of the pin has the shape of an eight-point star. The copper has turned to an oxidized green with age. The 3D model can be freely moved, rotated, and zoomed in and out to allow the viewer to inspect the object from multiple angles. A small, still image of the object is also included, with the object against a white background and a measurement scale in centimeters below it.
