Peer review process and plagiarism check:: The peer review process and plagiarism check are two essential steps in the publication of academic research papers to ensure the work's quality, originality, and credibility. Here's an overview of each of these processes:
Peer review process:: The peer review process typically involves the following steps:
a. Submission: Authors submit their research papers to the journal.
b. Editorial review: The journal's editor first reviews the paper to ensure it meets the submission guidelines and is suitable for the journal's scope.
c. Peer review: The editor sends the paper to a group of experts (peer reviewers) in the same field who evaluate the paper's content, methodology, results, and conclusions. They provide feedback, and suggestions for improvement, and recommend acceptance, revision, or rejection.
d. Author revisions: If revisions are required, the authors address the reviewers' comments and make necessary changes to the paper.
e. Final Decision: The editor makes the final decision based on the reviewers' recommendations. The paper may be accepted, accepted with revisions, or rejected.
f. Publication: If accepted, the paper is published in the journal.
Plagiarism check:: To prevent plagiarism and ensure the originality of submitted papers, most academic journals use plagiarism detection tools and follow these steps:
a. Initial submission check: The journal's submission system often runs an initial plagiarism check when authors submit their papers. This helps identify any potential cases of plagiarism at an early stage.
b. Editorial review: During the editorial review, the editor and reviewers may also identify suspicious passages or potential cases of plagiarism. They will then request clarification or revisions from the authors.
c. Final plagiarism check: After revisions are made and before publication, the paper is subjected to a final plagiarism check. This is usually done using specialised plagiarism detection software. If any instances of plagiarism are found, they must be addressed or the paper may be rejected.
d. Author responsibility: Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality of their work and providing proper citations for any previously published material they include in their papers.
Both the peer review process and plagiarism check play critical roles in maintaining the integrity and credibility of academic research. Authors should be aware of the guidelines and expectations of the journals they submit to and should take care to avoid plagiarism by properly citing sources and giving credit to the original authors when appropriate.
Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement: We are firmly committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and integrity. We align ourselves with the Guidelines on Good Publication Practice of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), which govern our editorial processes. As such, we operate in strict accordance with the Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors. Our commitment to these principles is paramount, and we expect all stakeholders, including authors, reviewers, and editorial staff, to adhere to these ethical standards.
Fair Play and Editorial Independence: Our editorial decisions are based solely on the academic merit of the submitted manuscripts and their relevance to the scope of the journal. We do not discriminate based on authors' race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnic origin, citizenship, religious beliefs, political philosophies, or institutional affiliations. Our editorial judgments are not influenced by external agencies, governments, or any other entities beyond the journal itself. The Editors-in-Chief have full authority over the entire editorial content of the journal and the timing of publication, ensuring that our processes are grounded in fairness and editorial independence.
Confidentiality : Maintaining the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts is of utmost importance. Editors and editorial staff are bound by a strict code of confidentiality and will not disclose any information about a manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher as necessary for the review and publication process. Rest assured that your manuscript will be handled with the utmost discretion.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Editors and editorial board members are committed to ethical conduct when handling manuscripts. They will not exploit unpublished information from submitted manuscripts for their research purposes without explicit written consent from the authors. Any privileged information or ideas obtained by editors during the manuscript handling process will be treated with the utmost confidentiality and not used for personal gain. In cases where conflicts of interest exist due to collaborative, competitive, or other relationships with authors, companies, or institutions associated with a manuscript, editors will recuse themselves from the decision-making process. Another impartial member of the editorial board will be designated to handle the manuscript.
Acknowledgement of Sources: Authors submitting are expected to acknowledge the work of others appropriately. Proper citation and acknowledgement of publications that have influenced the reported work are essential. Information obtained privately, such as through conversations, correspondence, or discussions with third parties, must not be used or reported without explicit, written permission from the source. Authors should refrain from utilizing information acquired through confidential services, such as manuscript reviewing or grant application evaluation unless they have obtained explicit written permission from the author(s) of the work involved in these services.
Hazards and Human or Animal Subjects: If a manuscript involves chemicals, procedures, or equipment with inherent hazards, these must be identified within the manuscript. When research involves the use of animals or human participants, authors must ensure that all procedures are conducted in compliance with relevant laws and institutional guidelines. A statement indicating compliance and approval from the appropriate institutional committee(s) must be included in the manuscript. Authors should also specify in the manuscript that informed consent was obtained for experiments involving human participants, and the privacy rights of human participants must be rigorously upheld.
