Abstract
Pilot Anthony H. "Tony" Jannus (right) poses with passenger George S. Gandy, Jr. (left) aboard the Benoist AirBoat Type XIV No. 43 in February 1914 in Tampa, Florida. The St. Petersburg-Tampa Airboat Line became the world's first commercial airline service the month prior. In 1915, Gandy hired a surveyor team to begin his process of building a bridge across the bay.
