Abstract
During the tenure of Tampa Mayor Sandy Freedman (1986-1995), John Dunn served as the mayor's Director of Communications. He also served as the official spokesman for the city. Before coming to work for the city Mr. Dunn worked for the Tampa Tribune from 1980 to 1986. Mr. Dunn discusses local and national media relations and the image the mayor's office projected in the media. There is also a discussion of the mayor's challenges with Ye Mystic Krewe, the Tampa Police Department, the Tampa Convention Center, and Key Bank. The interview ends with a discussion of Mr. Dunn's current (2007) position at Tampa General Hospital and his impressions of how Tampa has changed since the 1980's.
