Abstract
Dr. Henry Mushinsky is a professor emeritus at USF and was on the faculty for thirty-six years, sixteen of which he was graduate director. Much of his time was spent working in the USF Forest Preserve, where he studied fire ecology. He speaks on the importance of prescribed burnings for the USF Forest Preserve and the difficulties in obtaining permits to do so, alongside the historical difficulties that have faced the upkeep of the Forest Preserve. He discusses the value of the USF Forest Preserve in terms of ecological importance and as a force to draw in potential biology students and funding.
