Abstract
Jeannie Mounger is a PhD candidate and teaching assistant at the University of South Florida in the Department of Integrative Biology. She discusses her involvement in the Save the USF Forest Preserve initiative, where she participated in activism to defend the property from development. She describes the USF administration's involvement in the forest preserve and suggests ways the land could be used by future students and faculty. The possibility of the Save the USF Forest Preserve initiative developing into a nationwide system to help other university students protect environmental land on their campuses is also explored.
