Abstract
Oral interview with Dr. David Crane, a physician with the Florida Department of Public Health. Dr. Crane began in public health working in Dade county where he was an early pioneer in nursing home inspections. He then traveled to Indonesia as part of a U.S. delegation to help with public health matters in remote areas of the country. Upon his arrival back in Florida, Dr. Crane was appointed the director of the Bureau of Maternal and Child Health in Jacksonville. As a public health officer, he was instrumental in expanding the county boards of health throughout the state and bringing medical care to the indigent.
