Abstract
An oral history interview with Henry T. Janowski. Bureau Chief of the Florida State Department of Health Bureau of Immunization. Mr. Janowski’s career in public health spans 30 years. A graduate of Florida State University, he immediately joined the state’s venereal disease program, and later obtained a master’s in public health at the University of Tennessee. Upon graduation he spent 8 years in epidemiology and in 1983, joined the immunization program. Mr. Janowski discusses the history of immunization in the US and Florida throughout the 20th century, programs to vaccinate children in the K-12 school system and in college, and the politics and funding that impact immunization programs.
