Abstract
Myra Lentz Bomba is a certified public health nurse from University of North Carolina. She worked at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale and then later as a special nurse in the public health sector. After obtaining her B.S. in public health nursing, she was promoted to director of nurses for the Broward County Public Health Department. She served as director of nurses for two years prior to returning to UNC for a M.A. in public health. In the wake of legislation that permitted non-physicians to occupy administrator positions, she was appointed to an administrator position and stayed in that position for seven years. She retired as deputy district administrator to John Stokeberry in 1989. Myra worked in Public health for Florida for 27 years. Her interview specifically focuses on programs that advocated for maternal and infant care and on the reorganization of the health department into the Florida Department of Health and Rehabilitation Services (HRS) of 1976.
