Abstract
This study provides an estimate of the economic impact of the Arts and Culture sector in the City of Saint Petersburg, Florida. The study is based on data from a survey of 32 arts organizations, which originated about $23 million in direct and indirect spending in the city in 2009. We find the share of government direct contribution and the ratio of philanthropic to government support to the sector low, when compared to the national level. Findings also suggest that the interest in the sector from both parties, public and private, are more in balance than nationwide.
