Abstract
This article describes the draining of Lake Largo and various other freshwater bodies for the purpose of creating new lands for agriculture and truck farming. Efforts to reclaim many of these areas took place nearly a century ago, in 1915. The creation of Cross Bayou assisted in the drainage process.
