Abstract
This article and a separate book chapter originated from a seminar paper written by the author in graduate school at USF. The article examines Florida's segregated patterns of labor during the Second World War, with an emphasis on laws, customs, and practices that targeted African Americans. The original paper won the Florida Historical Society's LeRoy Collins Prize for best graduate essay in Florida History.
