Abstract
Using data from a major research project conducted in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, this paper highlights a number of issues pertaining to delivery and evaluation of early intervention services for families with developmentally delayed children. Central features of the province's early intervention program are reviewed. Data from the evaluation project are presented under the following themes: (1) parents' early experiences regarding detection of the child's problem, information about the program, and program accessibility; (2) parental perceptions of the program; and (3) correlates and predictors of child developmental outcome.
