Abstract
As we approach the opportunity to discuss transformative learning’s expression in and impact on practice, many approaches and lens may be used. This conference panel session brings together experts from different areas of adult education practice, research, and experience to develop a discussion that explores how transformative learning plays out in practice. In effect, how do we reconcile the discussion and critique of cognitive rationality with experience? What do emphases on the affective, spiritual, and unconscious learning and experience provide for such considerations? And what does it mean for us as adult educators as we reflect on teaching and learning within a “transformative learning” framework or understanding?
