Abstract

Moving beyond skills training of the '80s and '90s, today professional development in educational technology has the potential to introduce and familiarize faculty with models that can capture the dynamic relationship between technological innovation, educational practice and educational discovery and reinvention. This article is based on a case study of a course that used a hybrid (face-to-face and online) format to illustrate a new model of reflective practice in professional development. Rather than predicting where technology will take education, teachers, and learners, this model suggests that professional developers will benefit more by encouraging faculty to consider where they are taking technology as they try to capture its potential.
