Note
Note on the back: "S.O.S, stands for Save Old St. Petersburg. We are a group of St. Petersburg residents who support downtown redevelopment. We believe the key to such efforts lies within the people, history and character that have always made St. Petersburg unique. More important, however, is the fact that the success of developments of this kind, depends upon the understanding of the nature of cities themselves. We feel the current proposal for the redevelopment of our downtown area, fails to address any of these issues. It reduces our history to superficial decoration. It reduces the vitality and atmosphere of our city, to that of a suburban shopping center by following the same outdated planning philosophies that have destroyed so many American cities in the past. The plan now under consideration is geared more towards an elite tourist market than to the St. Petersburg residents who make our city the unique place that it is. These are the same people that make St. Petersburg worth revitalizing, and the people this project, should cater to."
