Abstract
An argument is made, through quotations, for the importance of books. The possibility of future reliance on computers as a storage medium is addressed. He proclaims that a good university and a good library go hand-in-hand. Delivered at the annual meeting of the Society for Advancement of Poynter Library on 23 April 1987.
