Abstract
This paper explores an extensive range of factors which might have some contributory influence on the selection of the bicycle as the mode choice for the trip to work using MSA-Ievel data extracted from the 1990 U.S. Census. The sample included 100 percent of the MSAS in the U.S. Regression analysis was employed to provide insight into the contributory factors. The dependent variable used in the analysis was the percentage of the modal split captured by bicycle for the trip to work in each MSA.
