Abstract
E.J. Salcines presents a narrated historical account focused onthe cornerstone of the Cuban Club building in Ybor City, laid in 1917 during a formal groundbreaking ceremony attended by local and foreign dignitaries. He describes fundraising efforts, leadership by Dr. Alfredo Kohly and members of the Martínez Ybor family, and the construction of a four-story, fireproof clubhouse completed in 1918. Architectural features, interior spaces, and the building's role as a social, cultural, and recreational center for Tampa's Cuban community are also documented.
