Abstract
During this part of the tour, E.J. Salcines narrates the history of the bust of José Martí located in front of El Círculo Cubano de Tampa in Ybor City. The narrative describes Marti's role in organizing for Cuban independence among Tampa's Cuban community, the dedication of the bust in 1949 by the Caballeros de la Luz, and the evolution of Cuban political, radical, and labor divisions in Ybor City following Cuban independence. The account also traces the transformation of the Cuban National Club into a mutual aid society and the development of the Cuban Club as a social and medical support institution for cigar workers.
